About

Primary Specialties: Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation, Pain Medicine (Board Certified), Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation

Jacob Lee brings extensive clinical experience in pain management to his patients at National Spine & Pain Centers’ Winchester, VA office. Prior to joining NSPC, he completed a pain medicine fellowship at UCLA where he employed ground-breaking approaches to treat the chronic pain of patients at the UCLA Spine Center, the California Pain Medicine Center and the Greater Los Angeles Veterans Affairs Medical Center.

He has extensive experience in regenerative treatments using stem cells (bone marrow-derived) and platelet-rich plasma, or PRP, which can help heal injured ligaments, tendons, and joint cartilages. He received world-class training in regenerative treatments during his rigorous residency program at Emory University and Emory Sports & Spine Center in Atlanta, one of the leading institutions in the field of regenerative medicine that is affiliated with the Atlanta Hawks Professional Basketball Team, where he was also involved in a multicenter state-of-the-art stem cell research study in using stem cells to treat patients with low back pain.

In addition, he also specializes in other interventional treatments, including epidurals, nerve root injections, trigger point injections, peripheral nerve stimulation, radiofrequency ablations, and platelet-rich plasma therapy.

“The field of pain management is continuously developing, which makes it such an exciting area to work in,” Dr. Lee said. “With advances in regenerative medicine and neuro-modulation therapies, our patients have better options than ever before for treating their pain.”

Despite having completed a rigorous fellowship in pain medicine, Dr. Lee sees medication as only one component of his treatment plans. “Medication is just part of getting better,” he said. “Used in the right setting, including one that recognizes the potential risks, it should be part of a multi-modal rehab plan that includes other treatments and coping therapies that help patients learn how to relax their bodies from a state of stress that can exacerbate their pain.”

Dr. Lee received his undergraduate degree in Biochemistry from the University of California Riverside and his medical degree from the Western University of Health Sciences in Pomona, CA. He completed his medicine internship at Loma Linda University (CA) Medical Center and his residency training at Emory University Hospital in Atlanta, where he served as the chief resident. He then returned to California for his pain medicine fellowship at UCLA.

A West Coast native, Dr. Lee enjoys spending time with his wife and four children, exploring their new environs in the heart of the Shenandoah Valley and the Blue Ridge Mountains.

I have been experiencing nerve pain since [...] 2024. I have finally began to find relief. I appreciate the care and concern I have received from the staff and medical team at National Spine & Pain Center. They have taken the time to fill out numerous work forms. They have turned a difficult time into a good experience. I am so thankful I found the National Spine and Pain Center in Winchester when I was searching for a good pain management doctor. My Physical Therapist who has been working with me for months asked for my Dr. Lee's card so she can recommend patients after seeing my progress in just a few weeks.
